Lotus’s history begins with Rajendra Enterprises, a company
based in Mumbai, India. It was founded in the 1970’s as a natural
colored gemstone manufacturer and distributor. In 1982, Rajendra Enterprises
turned to the manufacturing and sales of white diamonds, in time becoming
one of the first businesses to successfully sell Indian white diamonds
in the United States.
In 1994, we took on the challenge of manufacturing
and distributing color enhanced diamonds – and this has been
our core business ever since. |
| The Challenge of Colored Diamonds |

In the early 1990’s enhanced rubies, sapphires and other gemstones
were gaining acceptance in the market due to their superior beauty,
consistent supply and reasonable prices. We understood that if we
used safe technology to produce beautiful color enhanced diamonds,
and right marketing strategies to distribute them, these stones would
also become an important part of the gemstone market.
Our previous work with natural color gems together with our experience
in cutting and marketing white diamonds has translated into invaluable
insight into manufacturing and sales of color enhanced diamonds.
Our thorough understanding of color variations is an important foundation
of our grading system, a professional method of assorting colored
diamonds, unique in the industry. |

The key to running our operation professionally and systematically
is using specialists for every important task, such as grading or
color-enhancing the diamonds. This means our customers can count on
dealing with a knowledgeable and dedicated staff at every level of
operation.
Each of our global offices specializes in a particular job –
though some activities like marketing operate out of several offices.
Here’s how it all works:
- Mumbai – Polished
diamonds are purchased or manufactured, then assorted for enhancement.
- New York – Polished
diamonds are color-enhanced using latest safe technology.
- New York & Bangkok
– Enhanced diamonds are assorted using our Grading System.
- New York, Bangkok & Tokyo
– Graded enhanced diamonds are globally marketed.
